BACKGROUNDS

The setting is a cyberpunk dystopia with magic and dragons set firmly within the year of Shadowrun's
2064.

Every character had parents who birthed them and people who cared for them until they were able to
fend for themselves. In their past, they learned their skills, their abilities, their loves, their 
hates, and their virtues (or lack thereof). Some learned magic, some learned combat, some learned 
technology and other skills. Backgrounds are considered "living" as they change as the character 
develops. In-game events can cause a person to change their outlook on things.

Characters also have hobbies other than murder. Many characters hand-wave the income they get from
farming autoruns and other things as some other job they get up to on the regular, whether it be 
fixing, fashion artist, roboticist, or some other side hobby.

Writing all this down can make it easier to reference how your character should behave later. This
helps bring the characters to life, and gets away from the numbers and mechanics of the game. The in-
game CUSTOMIZE background is only visible to staff, and the in-game editor is of subpar quality at 
this time, so it is recommended to use a notebook or your favorite text editor for descriptions or 
restrings.
