Bishi's Vibe based Rigger guide

Not meant to be hard and fast, Rigging isn't particularly demanding, First things off:

Race:

Reaction defines control pool, so any race with a high reaction is good. Night one can reach the highest reaction unaugmented (This is important for later) but honestly any race will do. I slightly discourage races with lower reaction, like ork and troll, since their strengths don't really syenrgize with Rigging besides uh dragging vehicles. That said codedly Control pool is only used for ramming tests (not even flying) so it's not the most important thing.

Priorities:

Your main attributes are going to be. are quickness and intelligence. Max them out if you can. Strength is nice for picking stuff up though. Will is good for Cpool. If you're relying on your drones you don't need body.

On the other hand: rigger's also don't need that much variety of their skills. I prefer Skills over Attributes personally. if you're forced to only maximize one stat, probably maximize Intelligence for payouts.

Nuyen: Priority A or B: You can get away with just 400k, but having extra is nice if for getting a Truck out of chargen.

Magic: No. A VCR is extremely expensive essence wise.

Skills: Mounted gunnery 6, Negotiation 6. Drone B/R 2+. Driving Trucks 1. That's it for must get. highly recommend electronics, Street and corporate etiquette for buying your vehicle parts. If you have the spare points, consider getting a weaponskill for your meat body too. Decking and Rigging have antisynergy, so I wouldn't touch those skills.

Cyberware:

VCR: Alpha I or II. VCR rating doesn't affect much in the mud, mostly ramming and flight checks. but have some nice Nerp implications. III eats up too much essence for my preference, even at alpha. if you really don't care about essence, go ahead and get basic. Datajack: You need one, get an alpha, they're cheap. Smartlink II: Anyone who'll touch a gun will need this. Alpha is also affordable

Technically Encephalon II: Kind of expensive both nuyen and essence wise, but the +2 task pool currently applies to mounted gunnery tests. This may not always be the case.

Bioware:

Cerebral booster 2 (cultured) This is the ONLY other ware that affects our rigged reaction. Besides the VCR. All other reaction increasing ware is a scam. Also gives you payouts and extra dice for B/R (And currently mounted gunnery tests). It really does everything. Muscle toner IV. Even if boosting quickness doesn't boost our reaction, it still boosts our Cpool and is affordable.

That's it on the cyber end. Most ware don't work while rigging. So you don't really need much. get more if you want to do things with your meat body too.

Equipment

For equipment: you'll probably want a Ford bison as a drone command center. And also like, a drone. a Doberman is the most armored one and armor is king for our purposes. Maybe a roto drone to tow it up cliffs. You'll also need an RCD. RCD rating determines the maximum amount of cars you can have, so grab what you feel like.

After that grab an LMG, Gas Vent IV, top mounted smartlink, and foregrip/underbarrel weight. strip your gun down and attach your new upgrades. Then buy an Internal Hardpoint for your drone. That's basically it. If you have the skill, grab an electronics kit too.

The Future

Immediately after you leave, claim your vehicle(s), get the drone to a workshop and actually attach the hardpoint + gun to your new shiny drone.

After you've done that, some considerations for the immediate future is 93k for the heavy duty mechanical arms (so your drone can loot). 15k for Dikote for your drone. and heavily recommend upgrading to a Wandjina (119k) since it has a lot more carry capacity then the starting Doberman and can fly. (you can strip your old Doberman for parts) After that you're… basically done. It's a bit of a steep cost, but once you got everything, you don't benefit from upgrades nearly as much as other archetypes do.

Keep increasing your skills, Max out your Attributes, shop for a better gun to put onto your drone (There's a meaty Heavy Machine gun out there, Alternatively, Assault Cannon) Still important, but a lot more incremental..

While rigging remember to max out your Cpool into offence, your drone is probably immune to everything they have. Also don't rig in public, if your drone shoots, cops standing next to you might decide to shoot you.. oh and if anything ever strange happens to the load of your vehicle just pop the hood with the pop command, it'll recalculate everything.
