Adepts are worse than everyone at their specialties, but better than what everyone else is worst at. Your front-loaded power is less, but you have a lot of flexible utility in the range of powers you have.
Not recommended for new players, mostly due to how much you end up spending to do less than everyone else, which can be very savage early on.
Remember to keep your mind as flexible as your powers. Picking and choosing what abilites you should have active before you enter a situation is 90% of the fight, and can score you a victory where you would ordinarily have none (see HELP ADDPOINT). Powers can be indirectly or directly useful to the situation or playstyle, and there's a lot of them to choose from.

Failing that pick up a smartlink and a gun skill. Bullets are just pretty good, man.

Overall, you're going to have a very solid defense against MELEE attacks, FLEXIBILITY, and solid PHYSICAL STATS. You can combine that with BIOWARE and CYBERWARE, but adepts have a high price in both nuyen and karma. Prioritize ballistic armor and acquiring powers to solve specific problems.

Kinesics also ensures adepts make the best fixers.
